The Eurodefense network and EDTA are conducting a study on the participation of SMEs in the EU defence sector. In particular, their participation in innovation and across borders is the subject of the study. Participation of SMEs is important for the future of the European defence and security to unlock innovative power and stay ahead of future threats. European Union policies already focus on this theme, but the participation of SMEs in the defence industry still lags behind compared to other sectors of the economy. In particular cross-border participation of SMEs is almost non-existent.
Goal of the study is to prepare recommendations for European Union and national Authorities. The study is conducted by a working group of 20 members in 9 European Union member States.

To learn more details about the effectiveness of policies and the experiences of SMEs, the working group conducts a survey in the European Union defence sector. The survey contains questions related to policy, contracting, rules, communication, investment and various other issues.
Everyone active in defence-related Government, industry and research establishments is kindly invited to complete the survey.

The survey can be found at or click on the icon below. The survey contains 66 questions. Mainly multiple choice and some open questions. It takes about 30 minutes to complete.

Both EDTA and Eurodefense are non-profit organisations, independent of Governments, industry or any commercial organisation or goal. All work is being done on a volunteer basis for the benefit of a better Europe. Without any compensation.
